Two young men were involved in an accident in mid-February just south of Arapaho on U.S. 183. One man lost his life in the two-vehicle collision and now the other is facing charges of negligent homicide involving a motor vehicle.

Joe Cloninger recalls fateful night

“Shore patrol is screaming at me on the radio, ‘Man overboard! The boat has been hit! Man overboard!’ There were 149 sailors and marines on this mike boat. It was struck by a freighter that was coming in,” longtime Clintonite and former Navy Officer Joe Cloninger remembered about that fateful Jan. 17, 1977, night in Barcelona, Spain.

Farni serves Army in Military Police

Canute High School Class of 2012 graduate Anthony Farni finally fulfilled his dream of joining the U.S. Army in 2018, and he is currently stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, where he is now a specialist in the Military Police.
