Clinton Police Department adds two to roster

The Clinton Police Department has welcomed a new officer and a returning member to its staff.

Gloria Rivera has joined CPD’s ranks to be the second female officer at the department.

Trucks tangle

Tuesday morning two pickups collided south of town on U.S. Highway 183 near the Domino Fuel Stop. Clinton Fire Chief Brett Russell said both drivers were transported for what were believed to be non-life threatening injuries. The truck on the right is believed to be a pilot escort vehicle. 

Stratton receives leadership honor

Former Clinton resident Emily Stratton, executive director of the nonprofit Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence, has been awarded the 2021 Multicultural Citizen of the Year by the Multicultural Education Institute at the University of Central Oklahoma.

In 1865, John Wilkes Booth shot and fatally wounded President Abraham Lincoln at Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C. Lincoln died the next day.

In 1939, John Steinbeck’s “The Grapes of Wrath” was published by Viking Press.
