Dear Doctors: I had rheumatic fever when I was 5 years old. My heart is fine, but after my illness, I had trouble learning. I'm 79 now and still struggle to understand some things, especially the age we live in, with electronic everything. What does rheumatic fever do to the body? Can it affect the brain?
DEAR HARRIETTE: Now that I've lost weight, my friends are treating me differently. I was always the heavier friend. Last year I started my fitness journey, and it's done wonders for my self-esteem. I dress nicer, I go out more and I'm just a noticeably happier person.
According to Clinton Fire Chief Brett Russell, a woman and her cat were not believed to be seriously injured Thursday afternoon when the semi they were traveling in rolled over east of town on I-40.
