DETROIT (AP) — A Michigan man has been arrested on a federal criminal complaint alleging he set 25 fires on semitrailers in eight states over more than two years, all belonging to the same trucking company, prosecutors said Wednesday.

The week of Oct. 9 is Fire Prevention Week across the United States as home fires and related injuries tend to rise in the colder months with the use of candles, space heaters, stoves for cooking, and fireplaces. The Clinton Fire Department is encouraging citizens to start preparing their homes for cooler weather. “We always stress for people to be mindful and think through all the possible problems they may have as the seasons change,” said Clinton Fire Chief Brett Russell.
Derry Lynn Whitecrow, 45, of Clinton, has been charged with obstructing an officer, failure to register as a sex offender, and possession of a controlled substance after an incident on Oct. 4.
