In the Holy Bible in the Book of Matthew, Jesus is asked: "Master, which is the great commandment in the law?" He answers: "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind." But the second admonition, Jesus adds, "is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

Slower, more expensive mail in store for U.S.

The United States Postal Service is good to go on its plan to slow down the mail and implement aggressive price increases, according to the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) in a pair of decisions handed down this week.

Many government agencies – including some right here in Clinton – appear to be looking for ways to do the public’s business behind closed doors instead of in an open meeting for all to hear and see.

We beg to differ with those who complain about there being nothing to do in Clinton.

Good politics alone won’t win in 2021 midterm elections

Many Democrats are leery about the party's ability to retain control of Congress in 2022. The president's party normally loses ground in midterm elections, and Democrats have little margin for error. Lose a half-dozen House seats, and the Biden administration will find itself stymied; lose the Senate, and total paralysis will set in: zombie government personified by Sen. Mitch McConnell.

It was a great year for Oklahomans

The 2022 fiscal year budget is now in effect. Due to the economic rebound our state experienced on the heels of the CO- VID-19 pandemic, most of our state agencies that receive funding appropriated by the legislature will see a budget increase.
