ARAPAHO – In the bottom of the seventh inning, Ryan Carlisle took matters into his own hands when he belted a solo home run to left field, giving the Class A No. 17 Arapaho-Butler Indians a 5-4 victory over No. 13 Vici last Friday.
There’s no doubt that the Clinton football team’s big-play ability is alive and well, and it showed that in its scrimmage finale against Anadarko Thursday night at home, scoring on three offensive plays of 45-plus yards.
The Clinton football team was chasing a shot at a state title for the better part of the last decade, and it still is, but it’s no longer off Class 4A’s radar.
After much criticism for its up-anddown play in 2019, the Clinton offense rebounded for a much better year in 2020 and even morphed somewhat into a methodical sledgehammer in the postseason.
