Work continues on the restoration of the old Arapaho Reading Room, and to raise funds for the project’s next phase the community will hold its Spring Fling Craft Show from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday at the Arapaho Community Center.

In his first court appearance since being charged with first-degree murder with malice aforethought, Brandon Benevento was denied bond Monday by Special District Judge Stephanie Jones.

Volunteers are needed to help with the Route 66 Area Special Olympics Bocce Tournament to be held from 8 a.m. until approximately 2 p.m. Saturday at ASAP Energy Field on the Southwestern Oklahoma State University campus in Weatherford.

Chapel services will be held for Calvin Smith, 94, of Shell Knob, Mo., at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel.

He died Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at Cox Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Mo.
