Funeral Services for Vynetta Walker, 97, former Clinton resident will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 10, 2022, in the First Christian Church, officiated by Doyle Kinney and Daniel Day. Burial will follow in the Center Point Cemetery east of Leedey, OK under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.

Zelma Vynetta Walker was born August 24, 1925, to David James Long and Mattie Vida (Splawn) Long in Rhea, Oklahoma and passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022, in the Integris Hospital House in Oklahoma City, OK.

Vynetta was raised in the Leedey and Rhea areas. She started school in Rhea but later transferred to Leedey where she graduated high school. She married Charles Allen Walker on May 28, 1943, in Dewey County. They established their first home west of Putnam and started farming a ranching. She worked for the FSA in Taloga, in Dewey County. She along with her husband was active in the community. In 1972 they moved to Clinton and became active in the First Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, James Ernest Walker and a brother, James Wayne “Sonny” Long and his wife, Mary.

She is survived by her son, Larry A. Walker and wife, Beverly, OKC, two grandchildren, Alison Brooke. Atlanta, GA and Dr. Steven Allen Walker and wife Dr. Kiersten Walker, Edmond: four great grandchildren, Samuel Walker, Benjamin Walker, Georgia Hondroulis, and Sophia Hondroulis.

She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Curt Walker and wife, Judy, Butler, OK; Randy Long and wife Luann, Tonkawa, OK, Don Long and wife, Mary, St. Simon Island, Georgia Tonkawa, OK, Allene Sandel and husband, Bruce, Tampa, Florida, and Susie Reynolds, OKC, OK.

The family has suggested those wanting to give a memorial contribution may do so to the Clinton First Christian Church.

The family will greet guest 5:00 till 7:00 P.M., Thursday, September 08, 2022, at the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
