(AP) – President Joe Biden is expected to sign into law the first bill that specifies lynching as a federal hate crime.
DEAR HARRIETTE: It's St. Patrick's Day again, and this year we get to celebrate. Last year, COVID-19 shut us down. I love to hang out with my friends on this day. The only thing is that I am sober, and my friends are not. They give themselves permission to drink as much as possible on St. Paddy's, and often somebody gets sick or things turn south. I got sober during the pandemic and am proud of myself for sticking with it. I am not worried that I will feel the need to drink if I hang out with my friends, but I worry that they will feel uncomfortable around me. They all know I'm sober, which makes some of them self-conscious around me when they drink. I told one friend that I do want to hang with them, and I am happy to be the designated driver. ● Here's a healthy habit to get into: Wash your reusable water bottles. Over time, reusable bottles can harbor unhealthy bacteria that can make you sick. To remedy this, use your automatic dishwasher to sanitize both the bottle and cap every few days. If your bottle isn't dishwasher-safe, you can it with a mixture of 1-to-5 parts white vinegar and water. Let it sit overnight and rinse it out in the morning so it's clean and almost as good as new. And remember: When it's time to get a new bottle, be sure to recycle the old one.

Clinton resident Traci Brown-Armstrong, 48, has been identified by Clinton police as the driver involved in the March 1 fatality of Elk City resident Mathew McComas, 29. McComas was killed at approximately 3:30 p.m. that day near North 15 Street and Hunt Avenue in Clinton when the motorized bicycle he was riding was hit by a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche driven by Brown-Armstrong.
Clinton’s miniature golf course is in full swing for the 2022 season. The course had its first day of operation Sunday, March 13.
Corn Bible Academy is hosting the dedication of its new campus March 26 at 3 p.m. The public is welcome to attend and see what the new campus looks like, said Supt. Tim McDonald.
The Clinton Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 3:48 p.m. Saturday at 321 Van Buren Dr. According to Capt. Blake Shaddon, firefighters were on scene within a minute after being notified by dispatch. Four vehicles and 12 firemen responded to the call.
