Sheriff Day talks jail problems

Problems continue at the Custer County Jail as county leaders work to bring the facility that has suffered from lack of maintenance in previous years back to where it needs to be.

Making Pepper Alley sizzle, pop

Local duo Marcia Wheeler and Michael Bingenheimer bring the heat to Clinton with their aptly named Pepper Alley, an operation from which they sell an assortment of sauces, powders and hot sauces that can please a variety of palates.

Murley awarded State honor

Former Clinton Police Officer Mike Murley was named 2023 Outstanding Investigator by the Oklahoma District Attorneys Association at the District Attorneys Council Awards Luncheon last month in recognition of his work as a District 2 investigator.

MANCHESTER, Conn. (AP) — A cyberattack has disrupted hospital computer systems in several states, forcing some emergency rooms to close and ambulances to be diverted, and many primary care services remained closed as security experts worked to determine the extent of the problem and resolve it.

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A man is expected to survive being stabbed through the head with a flagpole at a fast-food restaurant in Oklahoma.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — The U.S. military is considering putting armed personnel on commercial ships traveling through the Strait of Hormuz, in what would be an unheard of action aimed at stopping Iran from seizing and harassing civilian vessels. Since 2019, Iran has seized a series of ships in the strait, the narrow mouth of the Persian Gulf, as part of its efforts to pressure the West over negotiations regarding its collapsed nuclear deal with world powers. Putting U.S. troops on commercial ships could further deter Iran from seizing vessels.
