Making a perfect fit

Clinton’s Route 66 Museum has been closed to the public since March 17, and it was recently notified by the Oklahoma Historical Society (OHS) that it is to remain closed until at least June 1. To help keep it afloat in the meantime, the board of Friends of the Route 66 Museum, Inc. has applied for a $25,000 grant from the independent non-profit Oklahoma Humanities. OH has $400,000 in emergency federal money available through the Humanities Organizations Pandemic Emergency Grants, or H.O.P.E. Grants.

After previously reporting all 10 patients with COVID-19 to be in the recovery stages, the Oklahoma State Department of Health reported Monday a new active case for Custer County.

Most local churches waiting to reopen

Gov. Kevin Stitt has lifted restrictions on social gatherings effective May 1, giving churches the green light to resume holding regular worship services. However, Clinton churches appear to be moving cautiously as they inch toward getting back to “normal.” Recommended social distancing guidelines will continue to be observed, and conditions will be reevaluated regularly.
