Two sides of the First Christian Church steeple were blown off by strong winds that hit Clinton twice recently. The steeple, or a previous one, also had been damaged nearly 20 years before when part of it was blown almost to the Bank of the West two blocks away.

For the first time since moving into the State Capitol Building in 1917, the Office of the State Treasurer is leaving the building for an extended period of time to allow for renovation work to be completed, State Treasurer Randy McDaniel announced.
