A wreck early Wednesday evening on westbound Interstate 40 near mile marker 68 sent one to the hospital after a SUV was struck by a semi-truck while merging into one lane of traffic in the construction zone just east of Clinton, according to the Clinton Fire Department. The collision caused the vehicle to go into the cable barriers where it was stopped before going into oncoming traffic. The female driver of the SUV was transported by Sinor EMS to Weatherford Regional Hospital for minor injuries after being trapped in the vehicle. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
A week since Clinton Regional Hospital opened its doors with emergency room and laboratory services, it is well on its way to meeting its goal of admitting and discharging 20 patients with 10 patients already meeting that criteria.
