Clinton back in action Tuesday

The Clinton basketball team returns to the floor for its second games of the season at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday against Tuttle. The Lady Reds start off the night, and Dalton Denney, pictured, and the CHS boys’ team will follow.

Clinton loads up Blanchard Tourney

Clinton head wrestling coach Rob Pitman anticipated 18 kids would fill out the brackets at the Blanchard Tournament, which began Friday and finishes up today.

Services will be held for Alberta Smith, 85, formerly of Clinton, at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Peace Lutheran Church in Bessie.

She died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019, in Topeka, Kan.

Sammie “Ape” Hendricks

Funeral services for Sammie “Ape” Hendricks, 69, Clinton resident, will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, December 9, 2019, in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel, officiated by Doyle Kinney. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.

Custer County Sheriff Kenneth Tidwell will speak about Oklahoma’s new Open Carry law at a public meeting to be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Clinton Public Library.

Benevento trial set for March 23

Brandon Benevento’s trial for the alleged murder of his ex-wife a few hours before Easter Sunday began last April was scheduled Thursday to start March 23 next year.

Christmas lights can be fire threat

Clinton firemen arrived Friday morning just in time to help save a house, its human occupants and a passel of pets at 425 S. Eighth St.

The school district’s annual Christmas concert will be held on Monday, with some big changes being made this year. Instead of the choral and band performances both being held in Clinton High School’s Tornado Dome, each will now perform in separate venues.
