The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development and Oklahoma State Director Kenneth Corn announced Feb. 1 that a grant of $899,427 was awarded on behalf of the Biden-Harris administration to Southwestern Oklahoma State University to provide improved educational opportunities to more than 44,000 students in western Oklahoma.

Custer County commissioners convened their regular Monday session this week, along with holding a dedicated meeting of the Custer County Law Enforcement Center Trust focusing specifically on trust business.
The Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Western Oklahoma are hosting their first-ever fundraiser gala at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Redland Event Venue on Frisco Avenue. The theme for their gala is “Boots and Bling,” allowing those in attendance to arrive in casual western attire or dazzle on the dance floor in rhinestone jackets and sequin dresses. CASA Director Jackie Aaron said the gala is a test run they’ve chosen to attempt after taking inspiration from another CASA program within the state.
