Kathryn Nell Thompson
Funeral services for Kathryn Nell Merrill Thompson, 72, former Clinton resident, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Broadway Heights Baptist Church in Clinton, officiated By Rev. Buck Nicholson.
Mrs. Thompson died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, in the Green Oaks Nursing Home in Arlington, Texas. She was born Nov. 15, 1941 in Cordell, the daughter of Linden Merrill and Frances (Clark) Merrill.
Mrs. Thompson was raised in Gotebo as a young girl and moved to Clinton when she was in the seventh grade. She attended Clinton Schools and graduated in 1959.
She was married and traveled extensively, settling in Arlington, Texas in 1986. She worked in retail sales for several years.
Preceding her in death was her father, Linden Merrill.
Survivors include her mother, Frances Merrill, of Clinton; a son, Kent Thompson, of Marietta, Ga.; three daughters, Shari Klingensmith and her husband, James, Lori Lax and Kelly Bleigh and her husband, Richard, all of Arlington, Texas; two brothers, Melvin Merrill and his wife, Kathy, of Davis, and Perry Merrill and his wife, Marge, of Townsend, Mass.; four grandchildren, Michael Stuart and his wife, Leonor, of Arlington, Texas, Amanda Stuart, of Portland, Ore., Lindsey Townsend and her husband, Clay, of Melissa, Texas, and Kyle Bleigh, of Arlington, Texas; and one great-granddaughter, Olivia Stuart.
Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery, under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.
