John William Grunert
Funeral services for John William Grunert, 56, quality control manager of Bar-S-Foods, were scheduled for 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) in the Liberty Church in Weatherford, with Pastor Scott Page officiating.
A private burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery.
John Grunert was born, along with twin brother James, Jan. 26, 1957 in Fort Dix, N.J., the son of William Louis Grunert and Helen Arlene (Vanjahnke) Grunert. He died New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, 2014 in Kansas City, Mo.
Grunert had traveled to Tennessee to see a sister who has been in failing health. On his way home, he came through Kansas City to see a niece and became ill and had to have emergency heart surgery and passed away in the St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City.
His father was a career Air Force man, and the family traveled extensively. He graduated from John W. North High School in Riverside, Calif.
Grunert enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and spent eight years in the Air Force Reserves. He moved to Clinton in 1997 where he has worked for Bar S Foods in the Quality Control.
He married his fiancé of 21 years, Kimberly Ann Martin, on Dec. 7, 2006 in Arapaho. They made their home in Clinton.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Jacquie Abbott.
Survivors include his wife, Kimberly, of the home; five daughters, Darlene Lackey, of Texas, Elizabeth Dare and her husband, Ron, of Colorado, Candace Lemon and her fiancé, Troy Sikes, of Clinton, Kristina Duster and her husband, of Damon, Texas, and Cynthia Perez and her husband, Moyses, of Clinton; twin brother, James Grunert, of California; five sisters, Cheryl Nyman and husband, Justin, of Tennessee, Michelle LaPlanate and her husband, Bob, of Burns Flat, Bonnie Lamb, of Burns Flat, Rhonda Silva and her husband, Able, of California, and Darlene Morgan, of Missouri.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home, of Clinton.
