J. R. Lowry
Graveside services for J. R. Lowry, 95, Clinton resident, were held Tuesday at Red Hill Cemetery in Hammon.
Lowry died Friday, May 23, 2014, at Clinton. He was born Aug. 28, 1918 in Rockwall, Texas the son of Clettie and Ernest Wayne Lowry.
Lowry moved with his family to Herring as a child. Then the family moved into the Hammon area. He married Minnie Packard, and they made their home in Hammon where he was employed with the Santa Fe Railroad and held several positions including machine operator, trackman, foreman and road master before he retired after 43 years of service.
His wife, Minnie, died in 1979, and he later married Dorrace Mize and they made their home in Clinton.
Lowry was a veteran of the Army Air Corps and served his country during World War II.
In addition to his second wife, Minnie, he was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; a brother, Wayne; and a sister, Jewel Troxel.
Survivors include his wife, Dorrace; a daughter, Pat Klaassen and her husband, Clarence, of Colorado; a son, Robert Lowry and his wife, Cindy, of Texas; three stepchildren, Cheryl Essary of Oklahoma, Dana Mize of Oklahoma and Roger Mize and his wife, Helen, of Texas; five grandchildren, Lynn and her husband, Jeff, of Washington, Kenneth of Colorado, Patsy of Oklahoma, Leah of Oklahoma and Nicole of Oklahoma; several great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Florence Dameron of Oklahoma and Doris Wood of Colorado.
Arrangements were under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service in Sayre.
