Funeral services for Evelyn Olive Reed, 91, of Arapaho, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Free Will Baptist Church in Clinton.
She died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, at her daughter’s home in Crawford.
Reed was born April 4, 1927, to Alonzo and Mable (Roe) King in Independence. She grew up in Arapaho and graduated from Arapaho High School in 1945.
On June 29, 1949, she married James Reed in South Olive, Ohio.
Reed had worked as a secretary for the Custer County commissioners’ office and for the school board, and had most recently worked as the Custer County clerk.
She was a member of the Putnam Methodist Church but had lately been attending services at Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, cooking and canning vegetables.
Reed was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Juaneta Nichols and Marie Moon; and three brothers, Don King, Doug King and Eldon King.
Survivors include two daughters, Jane Howenstine and husband Cy of Cheyenne and Christine Calvert and husband Eugene of Crawford; two sons, Lonny Reed and wife Annette of Arapaho and Douglas Reed and wife Margaret of Arkadelphia, Ark.; one brother, Charles King and wife Wanda of Oregon; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Rev. Charles Murphy and under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Arapaho Cemetery.
