Funeral services will be held for Betty Lou (Smith) Dozier, 78, of Weatherford at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Weatherford.
She died Monday, April 9, 2018, at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
Dozier was born July 24, 1939, to John and Doris (Smith) Smith on the family farm northwest of Weatherford. She was raised in the Weatherford area and attended Union Rural School through the eighth grade, later graduating from Weatherford High School in 1957.
On May 4, 1958, she married James Robert Dozier in Weatherford. The couple made their home northwest of Weatherford.
Dozier worked for Raven Industries until she retired in 1998. She also worked in the church nursery and helped with church meals at the First Baptist Church of Weatherford.
She enjoyed cooking, going on mission trips, going as a sponsor to Falls Creek, and spending time with family and friends. Dozier was devoted to her family.
Dozier was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Bob Smith.
Survivors include two sons, Jeff Dozier and wife Lea Ann of Weatherford and Wayne Dozier and wife Grace of Choctaw; two grandchildren, Keyton James and John Braxton; four step-grandchildren, Dan Meier and Lea, Sharee Reed and Brandon, Ryan Noyce, and Taylor Brummett and Colten; seven step-great-grandchildren, Hayden and Daniel Meier, Alexia and Ayden Reed, and Xailey, Everett and Spencer Brummett; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family has suggested that memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Weatherford. They will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Lockstone Funeral Home.
The service will be officiated by Earl Stephenson and burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
