Funeral services for Barbara Ellen Kissler, 81, of Weatherford, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Church.
Mrs. Kissler died Oct. 15, 2015, at Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City.
She was born April 19, 1934, the daughter of Forrest Dean and Hazel (Bates) Hatfield in Bessie. At 14, Barbara accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior while at a youth Christian camp with the Mt. Zion Church of Broxton. She graduated in 1952 from Broxton High School where she participated in basketball and softball.
After high school she attended Southwestern State College in Weatherford and worked at the Porterhouse Café, where she met her future husband, Calvin Reuben Kissler. They married May 24, 1955, at Apache Christian Church.
After college she was employed at Mid-Continental Life Insurance in Oklahoma City for two years. She and her husband moved to Weatherford to live on the farm where he raised wheat and cattle. He preceded her in death Dec. 9, 2012.
In 1960, Mrs. Kissler began working at the USDA (ASCS) in Clinton and stayed for 30 years. She enjoyed her work as well as getting to know the Custer County farmers whom she still called friends. After retirement, she remained busy volunteering at the Weatherford Memorial Hospital, food pantry, TRIAD-NARFE, and the Zion Church VBS.
Mr. and Mrs. Kissler were longtime members of the Zion Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Faye Bond and Lucille Stellner; one brother, Darrell Dean Hatfield; two nephews; and in-laws Frances Kissler and VerNell Bergen.
She is survived by her two sons, Weldon Kissler and his wife, Rachel, of Weatherford, and Dennis Kissler and his wife, Renee, of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, Kaylei and Benjamin Kissler of Weatherford and Austin Calvin Kissler of Stillwater; her brother-in-law, Zane Bergen; her sister-in-law, Frances Hatfield; and nieces and nephews. Pastor Ron Thiessen will officiate at the funeral, with burial following at Zion Cemetery.
