Funeral services for O.B. ”Coon Dog” Williams, 90, longtime Clinton resident, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home, in Clinton, officiated by Jeff McDowell.
Williams died late Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, in the Grace Living Center in Clinton. He was born Aug. 15, 1923 in Maysville, the son of Omus B. and Molly “Edith” (McNiece) Williams.
He came to western Oklahoma at a young age and attended school in Arapaho. He started his working career at White’s Automotive, Collier & Walton Wholesale Company and Hoffman Furniture.
Williams married Beulah (Dorsey) Roberts in November of 1960. In 1963, he and Kenneth Snider co-owned and operated Williams-Snider Furniture Store until 1965.
He then opened Williams Furniture Store, owning and managing it until he concluded a 44-year career in the retail furniture business, retiring in 2007.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Beulah; three sisters, Lois Cranford, Trelva Bailey and Leota Shackleton; two brothers, Ralph Williams and Billy Williams; and a grandson, Allen “Pete” Wynn.
Survivors include three daughters, Dolores Wynn McGuire and her husband, Wilson, of Edmond, Ercie Gayle Hutzel of Edmond and Sharon Meacham and her husband, Randy, of Clinton; a sister, Nelda Ruth Horton, Vancouver, Wash.; a nephew, Randy Cranford and his wife, Karen, of Ponca City; cousins, Glenda (Botchlet) Hand and her husband, Lonnie, of Clinton, Treva (Williams) Smith and her husband, Leroy, Smithfield, N.C. and Cheryl (Botchlet) Owensby of Van Cleave, Miss.; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren
Burial will be in the Lawnview Cemetery, in Cordell.
