Michael Wayne Howard
Funeral services for Michael Wayne Howard, 57, former Cordell resident, are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. today in the Peace Lutheran Church in Bessie, officiated by Pastor Rob Spicer.
Howard died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, in his Barnett, Mo. home. He was born Dec. 13, 1956 in Sentinel, the son of Don and Edna (Reinschmiedt) Howard.
Howard was raised in Cordell, and graduated from Cordell High School in 1975.
He continued his education at Oklahoma State University, working on a degree in biology.
He returned to the area and worked with his father in the Chevrolet dealership in Cordell. He also worked in law enforcement on the Cordell Police Department as well as working for an auto body shop.
In 2000 he moved to Missouri and was employed with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department as deputy sheriff and jailer. He retired in 2013. He married Barbara Jean Hendricks on March 3, 2013 in Morgan County, and they had made their home in Barnett, Mo.
Preceding him in death was his mother, Edna.
He is survived by his father, Don Howard, of Cordell; his wife, Barbara, of the home; a son, Justin Howard and his wife, Natalie, of Tulsa; a brother, Keith Howard, of Palm Springs, Calif.; two grandchildren, Aiden and Noah Howard, both of Tulsa; and three step-daughters, Patricia Roe, Carla Arnold and Tracy Luttrell, all of Missouri.
Burial will follow in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery, at Bessie, under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home, in Clinton.
