Ida LaSonie Southwell
Funeral services for Ida LaSonie Southwell, 77-year-old Thomas resident, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church of Thomas with Rex Yoder officiating.
Mrs. Southwell died Wednesday, July 23, 2014, in Thomas. She was born Jan. 6, 1937 in Putnam, the daughter of Clarence Fred and Helen Chaldeen (Deaton) Campbell.
She was raised in Putnam and attended a rural school before graduating from Thomas High School with the class of 1955.
On June 19, 1955, she married George William “Bill” Southwell, and they made their home in Thomas where she worked for the Dutchman Restaurant, Thomas Chamber of Commerce and First National Bank of Thomas before becoming co-owner of the Hard Country Café.
She began working as a dispatcher for the Custer County Sheriff’s Office in 1987 and retired in 2001 after 14 years of service.
Survivors include two sons, Zane Southwell of Clinton, and Reggie Barcindebar and his wife, Alyssa, of Fort Cobb; two daughters, Johnna Southwell and Tiffone Southwell, both of Thomas; two sisters, Sharron Threadgill, of Clinton, and Jackie Threadgill, of Thomas; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; brother, Don; and sister, Bonnie.
The family suggests memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the Thomas Food Pantry.
Burial will follow in the Mound Valley Cemetery at Thomas, under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home of Thomas.
