Henry ‘Hank’ D. Peters
A funeral Service for Henry “Hank” D. Peters, 94, of Corn, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, in the Mennonite Brethren Church in Corn, officiated by Rev. Bennet Peters, son of Mr. Peters and Rev. Tim Sandy.
Burial will be prior at 2 p.m. in the Corn Cemetery, under the direction of the Kiesau Lee Funeral Home.
Peters was born Dec. 25, 1919, to David C. and Helena (Bartel) Peters in Corn, and died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, in the Corn Heritage Village.
Peters was raised in Corn and graduated from Corn High School in 1937. He continued his education at Corn Bible Academy for the next year and then attended Southwestern State College in Weatherford. He was a Conscientious objector and served in the Civilian Public Service Camps during World War II from 1942 till 1945. He returned to Corn where he began his farming career.
He was married to Helen Beatrice Reimer on July 6, 1947, in Corn. They farmed and ranched together until 1980, and they moved into Corn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, Abe and Don Peters; and two sisters, Adina Martens and Katherine Neufeld.
He is survived by three sons, Bennet Peters and his wife, Jamie, of Okeene, Gordon Peters and his wife, Donnali, of Houston, Texas and Jonathan Peters and his wife, Diane, of Corn,and Mayra Harms, Omaha, Neb.
He is also survived by 8 grandchildren.
