Elizabeth Jane Pauls Brown
Funeral services for Elizabeth Jane Pauls Brown, 86, Corn resident, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Bible Mennonite Brethren Church in Cordell, with Pastor Kevin Creed officiating.
Mrs. Brown died Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Corn Heritage Village in Corn. She was born Jan. 25, 1928, the fifth of 11 children born to J.W. and Elizabeth Koop Pauls at Corn.
She attended school at Greenfield, School District No. 42, a rural two-room structure. She was baptized into the Corn Mennonite Brethren Church on Oct. 18, 1942. Six years later she transferred her membership to the Bessie Mennonite Brethren Church, now the Bible M.B. Church of Cordell.
She graduated from Corn Bible Academy. She married Ben Brown on Feb. 29, 1948 at the Corn church beginning a 60-year union. Preceding her in death were her father in 2008, and a brother, Bennett Lee Brown, in 2010.
Survivors include daughters and sons, Jo Ann and Joe Miller, Edmond, Ray and M.G. Brown of Bessie, Robert and Cindy Brown, Richardson, Texas, a daughter-in-law, Gwen Brown of Bethany, and Cherie and Olen Thiessen and Edward Brown, all of the Corn area; 14 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren; brothers Edgar Pauls and his wife, Marlene, of Corn, Jim Pauls and his wife, Lavada, of Denver, Colo.; and sisters, Miriam Roland of Portland, Ore. and Martha Ann David and her husband, Donnie, of Tulsa; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Pauls, of Okeene.
Also preceding her in death were her husband and a son, and brothers Art Pauls, John Pauls, Jr., and sisters Evelyn Pauls, Salome Wharton and Hannah Utz.
Burial will be in the Bible Mennonite Brethren Cemetery, Bessie, under the direction of Musick-Varner Funeral Home, Cordell.
