Delmar ‘Buck’ Shephard
Funeral services for Custer County resident Delmar “Buck” Shephard, 87, will be at 10 a.m., Thursday in the Freewill Baptist Church in Clinton officiated by Rev. Dwight Shepherd and Rev. Charles Murphy.
Shephard was born Dec. 12, 1926, to Frank and Izetta (Giles) Shephard near Arapaho and died Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, in the Methodist Health Care Center in Clinton.
“Uncle Buck,” as he was known by most, was raised in the Arapaho area and graduated from Arapaho High School in 1945. He had farmed in most of his adult life.
He was member of the Freewill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers George Robert Shephard and Frank Shephard, Jr., a sister, Jo Ann Barrick; and a nephew, Harold Glen Shephard.
He is survived by a brother, Billy Mack Shephard and his wife, Shirley, of Arapaho; two sisters in law, Retta Shephard, of Shady Grove, Texas, and Bess Shephard, of Arapaho.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family has suggested those wanting to make memorial contributions may do so to the Arapaho Alumni Association, Box 160 Arapaho, OK 73620 or United Methodist Health Care Center, 2316 W. Modelle, Clinton.
Burial will be in the Arapaho Cemetery, under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
