Funeral services for Cynthia Donna (Whiteskunk) Riggs “Voeseh’e” (Happy Woman), 57, are scheduled for 1 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Hammon High School Auditorium, with Ramus Hicks and Gerald Panana officiating
A wake service was held Tuesday at the Hammon Community Building.
Mrs. Riggs died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born July 25, 1957, in Elk City, the daughter of Lyle and Evelyn (Miles) Redbird.
She was raised and went to school in Hammon, graduating in 1975. She married Allen Riggs on Nov. 19, 2008. She worked as a registered nurse at several places, including Lawton Indian Health Service and Oklahoma City IHS, and most recently at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Preceding her in death were both parents and three brothers, Danny Redbird, Rupert Whiteskunk and Avery Whiteskunk.
Survivors include her husband, Allen Riggs; four daughters, LaDonna Rodriquez, of New Mexico, Sara Shayya and her husband, Luay, of Cleveland, Ohio, Laila Shadaram, also of Cleveland, and Sierra Sleeper and her husband, Kendrick, of El Reno; four sisters; seven brothers; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Burial will follow in the Hammon Indian Mennonite Cemetery, under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.
