Agnes Marie Hoelker
A Mass of Christian burial for Agnes Marie Hoelker, 103, Custer County centenarian, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clinton, officiated by Father Thomas Pudota.
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. this evening (Tuesday) in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
Miss Hoelker died Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the Methodist Health Care Center in Clinton.
She was born Aug. 8, 1910, in Anthon, the daughter of Herman and Mamie (Klein) Hoelker.
Raised in the Anthon community, Miss Hoelker completed her schooling there. She helped the family on the farm, and during World War II she worked for Boeing Aircraft as a riveter.
Miss Hoelker returned to Custer County and attended nursing school and worked as a licensed practical nurse for the hospital at Clinton until retiring in 1975.
She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and had been an active member of St. Mary’s in Clinton, where she was a pianist and organist for many years.
Preceding her in death were her parents; an infant sister, Esther; and three brothers, Albert, Paul and Louis.
She is survived by a sister, Clara Dunn, of Rogers, Ark.; a brother, Devert Hoelker and his wife, Ernestine, of Weatherford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Burial will be in the Anthon Catholic Cemetery. The family has suggested memorial contributions in her honor be made to St. Mary’s.
