Worker hurt at Mars plant

A male worker at the Mars Petcare plant in Clinton was seriously injured in a work-related accident shortly after noon Tuesday.

“Thanks to the response of our associates and the local Emergency Medical Service, he was quickly transported to an area hospital,” the company said in a prepared news release issued before 3 p.m. “While his condition is not immediately known, our thoughts and prayers are with the injured associate and his family at this time.

“Please know the safety of our associates is our top priority and we are working to learn more about the incident. We also hope to know more about our associate’s condition as soon as information becomes available.”

A Clinton Fire Department rescue team responded to the scene at the plant in south Clinton, as did a helicopter.
