Tornado saferoom assistance available for Oklahomans
Custer County Emergency Management Director Mike Galloway is working on a grant that would allow approximately 35 county residents to obtain tornado saferooms at a great reduction in cost.
In the meantime, he’s urging county residents to check out a state program on the Internet which essentially does the same thing. He’s encouraging people to go to ok.gov/oem, click on Programs and Services, and then click on SoonerSafe. It will give instructions about how to apply for one of the shelters, for which people can be reimbursed up to $2,000, not to exceed 75 percent of the actual cost.
