Students learn law at mock trial
A jury consisting of Washington fifth grade students and students from Thomas-Fay-Custer City found Chris “Shooter” Jones (played by Seth Adams, at right in the foreground) guilty of texting while driving, crashing his car and causing property damage. Slapping the handcuffs on is Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Chris Newcomb. The judge in the background at left is Donna Dirickson with Washington fifth grader Brittany Arnold sitting next to her serving as bailiff. This was the scene Thursday as students participated in a mock trial at the Custer County Courthouse in Arapaho for Law Day.
