State officially turning over local armory

Building plans set

Representatives from the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality and Oklahoma Military Department will hold a ceremony to officially turn over the operation and ownership of the historic National Guard Armory to the City of Clinton at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, said interim Clinton City Manager Lisa Anders.

Of course, the armory has been in use for several weeks now by both the Summer Playground youth recreation program and the city’s after-school program, but it will be necessary for the Playground to suspend its use of the building for this year after June 30, said Anders.

Even so, Anders said Playground youngsters can still use the large garage area of the armory in the event of inclement weather for its last few weeks of operation in July.
