Procrastinators have until December 31 to pay county taxes
Property tax procrastinators have until Tuesday, Dec. 31, to get in at least half of their tax payment without a penalty, which is 1.5 percent per month or 18 percent annually, Custer County Treasurer Janet Routlet said. The deadline for paying the second half is April 1.
While it’s difficult to estimate exactly how many procrastinators there are out in the county, only some 36 percent of the total tax roll had come in by Monday. In other words, the county has received some $7.2 million out of a total tax roll of $19,973,828.
