Oklahoma Route 66 Museum volunteers Karen Hinz, left, and Karen Travis get a close look at this 1940’s vintage dresser from the Calmez, a piece of the original crown molding from one of the rooms, and other artifacts that will be going into the new display set to open June 26.

Original artifacts to set off Calmez exhibit at 66 Museum

The “Hotel Calmez: Clinton’s Beacon on Route 66” is shaping up to be one of the most exciting rotating exhibits ever to be staged at the Oklahoma Route 66 Museum, judging by a glimpse of the artifacts that have already been acquired for the pro-ject set to open June 26. The exhibit will remain up through December.

Museum Director Pat Smith showed this reporter concept sketches of the lobby and guest room that will be reproduced life-sized with some original furniture and other fixtures along with period pieces that fit the time. It will be lit, incidentally, by an elaborate chandelier from the original hotel.
