One victim ID’d from Foss cars
One set of skeletal remains recovered last September from a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro pulled out of Foss Reservoir has been identified as that of Thomas Michael Rios, Sheriff Bruce Peoples said Wednesday.
Peoples said Rios was identified through DNA matches with Lucie Ann Vanzandt and Amanda Y. Gusman, his maternal half-sisters. The identification was made by the State Medical Examiner’s Office or by a contractor hired to conduct the tests.
Confirmation of the DNA match was received both from Angela Berg, a forensic anthropologist with the M.E.’s office, and from the UNT Health Service Center, which Peoples assumed to be a contractor hired to help in identifying the remains.
