Lankford explains Farm Bill ‘no’ vote
U.S. Senate candidate James Lankford says there’s a simple reason he voted against the final farm bill which colleague Frank Lucas, who represents this district of Oklahoma in the U.S. House of Representatives, shepherded through Congress.
“It depends on which version you’re talking about,” said Lankford, who currently represents the Fifth District. “It came to the House three times. The first time I supported it. The second time I supported it. The third time I did not. It was no longer Frank Lucas’ farm bill.
“The third version still had strong farm policies I could support, but it did not have the welfare programs I could support. Of course, as you know, the Farm Bill is 20 percent farm and 80 percent welfare.”
