Innovative water plan proposed
A consortium of five private companies that City Manager Steve Hewitt calls a “dream team” will propose an answer to Clinton’s water problems at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting.
Under the plan, the companies would explore for and hopefully find water. They would also construct a plant to treat the water, install piping to get it from its source to the plant, operate the plant after it’s built, and arrange funding to finance the whole operation. One of the team members would even own the plant, at least initially.
Severn Trent Services, which has supervised the city’s sewer plant for approximately four years and oversaw its Clinton Lake treatment plant until that facility was disabled in 2011, put the team together.
