A nearly packed house from a wide area turned out to hear state senior citizen fraud experts speak Tuesday morning at a conference at the Frisco Center. Here, from left, Sylvia Woods and Beryl Kelley, both of Clinton, visit with Chief Assistant Attorney General Julie A. Bays of Oklahoma City. Bays talked about home repair fraud and current scams.

Innocent-appearing things ripe for scams, fraud experts stress

If Cpl. Kelli Bruemmer’s presentation on mail fraud is any indication, senior citizens along with various professionals there for Continuing Education credits got an earful and a mind full about the ways senior citizens are vulnerable today to a variety of different kinds of crime.

Bruemmer, a deputy with the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office and the office’s Triad coordinator, spoke passionately on mail fraud.

A near capacity crowd was on hand Tuesday in the Frisco Center Exhibit Hall to hear Bruemmer and a number of other fraud experts during a Senior Fraud Conference hosted by the Oklahoma Insurance Department. A series of the conferences is being held across the state.
