Icy roadways keep OHP, firemen busy
Sunday’s slippery roadways contributed to nearly 20 accidents that Troop H of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol worked. Troopers also responded to about that many incidents which weren’t really accidents but just people sliding off the roads.
And one errant semi gave a couple of Clinton firemen who were out trying to get everybody to slow down a good scare when its trailer turned sideways on Interstate 40 and headed straight for them. The firemen – Chief Randy Carpenter and reserve Troy Calvert – somehow got on the other side of the median cable barrier and came out unscathed.
