Giveaways planned for fire station open house
Programmed weather radios will be given out — one per household — until 900 of them have been given away during the Clinton Fire Department Open House from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the new fire station at 212 S. Fourth St. (U.S. Highway 183), Fire Chief Randy Carpenter said.
The chief said when people ask for a radio they will need to provide proof of Clinton residence. Also, they will be asked to fill out a form on which they can list details about home storm shelters and other information.
In addition, 120 goodie bags have been prepared by the CFD Women’s Auxiliary to hand out to children. Auxiliary president Mindy Moore said the bags contain firefighter-related coloring books and packets of crayons, a junior firefighter badge and even a small plastic helmet that resembles the ones firefighters use.
