Looking forward to the day when he and his troops can move into their new quarters, Fire Chief Randy Carpenter (right) discusses the flooring situation with local tile contractor David Guevara. The city will have a large portion of the stained concrete floor tiled because of its inconsistent color and the numerous long cracks that traverse it.

Fire station keys now in city hands

But moving day not here yet
“We’re waiting for one more quote,” City Manager Steve Hewitt said Tuesday.

City officials now have the keys to Clinton’s new fire station, but it’s still going to be awhile before the trucks are rolling out the front doors.
Final touchup work remains to be done, including the installation of a large amount of tile to cover a botched cement floor that had cracks in it almost as soon as it was poured. The city is going to have the tile installed itself, apparently using a local vendor.
