Engineers say golf well great

That yo-yo Clinton city leaders have been on in their search for water was up again Tuesday night, with their hired engineers predicting that three wells can be drilled on the Riverside Golf Course which together would yield 1.7 to 2.6 million gallons of water per day.

Before the current drought and mandatory rationing, the city was using 4.1 million gallons on peak summer days. Thus, if the engineers are correct and the water proved treatable, the three wells could furnish nearly half or more of the city’s daily needs.
