Director believes consolidation will hurt local Rt. 66 Museum
Oklahoma Route 66 Museum Director Pat Smith is very much against legislation proposed by Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin that would combine the Oklahoma Arts Council and Oklahoma Historical Society under the umbrella of the Oklahoma Department of Tourism. OHS operates the Clinton museum.
House Bill 3028, which was passed in committee 6-5, and was headed to the House floor for a vote, includes consolidation of the Oklahoma Arts Council, Oklahoma Historical Society and the Tourism and Recreation Department into a new Department of Tourism, History and Cultural Affairs.
