Damon quits two city jobs at Cordell
Cordell’s embattled mayor, Alex Damon, has announced his resignation effective next Tuesday.
In letters dated March 24, he said he would resign not only as mayor but also as chairman of the board of trustees of the Cordell Utilities Authority, the Cordell Beacon reported Wednesday. The newspaper said one letter was sent to Rick Oliver, president of the Cordell City Council, and one to Vicky Dunlap, chairman of the trustees of the Utilities Authority.
Damon indicated he is resigning to accept an economic development position with another entity which he did not name. His letter implied that in his new position he will be working for the benefit of several western Oklahoma communities, including Cordell.
