Damon inks 'deferred prosecution' pact
Former Cordell mayor Alex Damon has signed a deferred prosecution agreement and will not be charged with any crimes if he completes a year of probation without violating any criminal laws, District Attorney Dennis Smith said this week.
“He paid about $300 in restitution on some mileage claims we felt weren’t proper,” said Smith. “It was kind of a trade-off.”
The City of New Cordell was the subject of a state audit in 2012, the results of which were announced in January of 2013.
