Counterfeit, gun charges embroil five

Lawmen believe they have broken a counterfeit currency ring and solved other crimes involving drugs and weapons with the arrest of five young men – all but one from Weatherford – Monday night following an Interstate-40 traffic stop.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Chris Newcomb of Clinton said 19 grams of cocaine, three grams of marijuana, $880 in counterfeit $20 bills, three pistols and an AK-47 rifle were found in a vehicle he stopped Monday night for traveling 11 miles over the speed limit. He said at least one of the firearms was stolen, all the handguns were loaded with hollow-point ammunition, and a 30-round magazine full of additional live ammunition was seized.
