Coach Lee named city’s Citizen of Year

Hall of Fame football coach Mike Lee turned the tables on the community that gathered Friday night to honor him as its Citizen of the Year for 2014.

Like many young coaches, Lee said that early in his career he was ambitious and trying to improve himself, so he moved from town to town at every opportunity he got to advance up the coaching ladder. But that changed when he arrived in Clinton.

“By far, bar none, the best community I’ve ever lived in is Clinton, Oklahoma,” Lee told the crowd gathered at Friday’s annual Chamber of Commerce banquet to recognize him for his 24 years as a coach and educator here.
