City land deals OK’d by council
Western Equipment, LLC, and the Friends for Life Animal Society will be deeded property by the City of Clinton for expansion of their respective operations as a result of actions taken Tuesday night by the City Council.
Councilmen agreed to sell Western Equipment five downtown lots and part of a sixth for a total of $35,001, and they voted to donate five acres outright in the south part of town to FFLAS as a possible site for its long-anticipated animal sanctuary.
The downtown lots are located on the north side of Frisco Avenue just west of U.S. Highway 183, across the street from the front entrance to the Frisco Center. Western Equipment already has a building on the south side of Frisco, and co-owner Bob Lorenz indicated in a letter to City Manager Steve Hewitt that the company wishes to construct another on the newly acquired property.
