Bad accident averted while fleeing police
Clinton police hemmed in a wanted man about 11 a.m. Tuesday on a back road in the east part of town and captured him, but not before he had allegedly roared across U.S. Highway 183 at a high rate of speed without stopping for a stop sign.
“We were extremely fortunate nobody was coming down 183 because he didn’t stop at all,” said Capt. Justin Parker.
The convicted felon was local resident Deon Gresham, 26. He was wanted only on a couple of old warrants when he fled; however, Parker said he probably would be facing new charges that would include at a minimum eluding a police officer and willfully avoiding a roadblock.
